Tanlin ordinary graphite electrode is a kind of electrode material made from petroleum coke and needle coke as raw material and coal pitch as binding agent, through calcining, batching, mixing and kneading, pressing, roasting, graphitization and machining. It is a conductor for heating and melting the charge in electric arc furnace by releasing electric energy in the form of electric arc, and the permitted current density is less than 17A/cm².

Tanlin graphite electrodes are used in electric arc furnaces as a conductor for heating and melting of the charge in the form of an electric arc.

Application scenarios

  • Metallurgical industry: Graphite electrodes are widely used in the metallurgical industry, especially in electric arc furnaces and refining furnaces. In electric arc furnace, graphite electrode generates high temperature through arc discharge, melting scrap steel and other waste into molten steel, and then refining, casting and other processes. In the refining furnace, the graphite electrode refines the molten steel through high temperature, high pressure and other conditions to achieve higher purity and quality standards.
  • Chemical industry: Graphite electrodes are also used in the production of chlor-alkali, sulfuric acid and other chemicals.
  • Mineral thermal furnace: mineral thermal furnace is mainly used for the production of industrial silicon and yellow phosphorus, etc., which is characterized by the lower part of the conductive electrode buried in the charge, forming an arc at the bottom of the charge layer and using the heat energy emitted by the resistance of the charge itself to heat the charge. Graphite electrodes are needed for mineral-thermal electric furnaces with high current density.
  • Resistance furnace: Graphite electrode can be used for the production of graphite products of graphitization furnace, melting glass furnace and production of silicon carbide with electric furnace and other resistance furnaces. The material in the furnace is both the heating resistance and the heated object, and the graphite electrode used for conducting electricity is usually embedded in the furnace head wall at the end of the resistance furnace, and the graphite electrode is used here for discontinuous consumption.
